Here's a video about what's going on and what you can expect in the future. I decided to do a video rather than a blog about it because I felt it was more personal and true that way. I hope you like it. Also I forgot to mention in the video but I'm going to be doing some book reviews in the future. I haven't decided whether they'll be blogs or vlogs yet, but I'll keep you posted.
Ho, Ho, Ho, who wouldn't know?
So hello folks, welcome back to the wonderful world of Hannah, presented to you today by free Christmas cards. I have 2 designs this year: last year's design and a brand new fancy-prancy one (which is my favorite #HannahDoesNotLoveAllHerChildrenEqually). You can download them for free here. Send them to your librarians and library workers or your booky friends!
I hope your holidays have been well so far. In personal news I am prepping for college #GonnaBeALibrarian, and getting measured for a suit. I had a job interview AT THE LIBRARY!!!!!! And I really hope I get the position (my interview went well so FINGERS CROSSED). If I get the job I will scream for about twenty minutes and will then buy myself a suit so I can be the best dressed on the job XD.
Have a merry, merry Christmas! I'll see you in the New Year! (or maybe still in this year, I have no idea when I will be blogging next)
Okay. So hello from ill lit dungeon of the Hannah! How are you today? Good? Let's dive right in. Last time I talked about how to read more so you could get rid of your HUGE TBR. Today I'm going to give you MORE BOOKS TO FILL UP YOUR HUGE TBR BC I AM A NICE PERSON. #truth XD
I have read some pretty awesome books lately, and I am going to talk about them now so you will fall into a guilt trap and feel compelled to read them. :D
KEEPING YOU A SECRET BY JULIE ANNE PETERS
YAYYYYY IT'S A GAY BOOK. Yes, people. This book is gay. WAY GAY. SO GAY. EYYYYYYYY GAY! So pretty much the plot is Girl is gay meets girl who is gay. And then 1st girl denies said sexuality pretends she's straight (she has a boyfriend) but then she realizes she is gay as fuck AND GAYNESS HAPPENS!!!! :D :D This delectable dish also includes a health dash of homophobic parents and tough adulty shit. ;-; #ThatIsACryFaceJustFYI
But overall I give this book a 5 star 'So Real It Reminds Me of My Life Ouch' rating. READ IT
#2 THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED by Becky Albertalli
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It is so funny and full of gay and (are you seeing a trend here? YES IT IS BC GAY BOOKS ARE GREAT PEOPLE!) all that good stuff. There's a girl who's the epitome of me i.e. she has a bizallion crushes but never talks to them and let's them blow past her life like so many dead leaves while she just stands there, the tree in the background forever forgotten because of social anxiety. Sigh. THE BOOK IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. It touches on anxiety and gayness and trying live with mental shit and IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL. Plus there be lots of gay, although the main romance is not gay #sadness Other than that, however, it be beautiful. It's one of those books that takes you my the collar and drags you in and never lets go. READ THIS BOOK
#3 The Roar by Emma Clayton
This is one of my childhood fave books. It's kind of dystopian. Kind of like the Hunger Games. But yet, so fresh and original. Basically the animals went savage and so people live behind this wall (which is like a third of the earth's size) sequestered from the animals. So the entire population is pretty much squished together and everyone hates animals. People also eat food grow from chemical tanks or eat flavored mold; it's so gross, but yet SO FUCKING COOL!
Plot wise, this is a masterpiece. The main character has to go through with this new program forced upon him by the government school system that basically turns children into soldiers. Then unwittingly he and all the other kids, start playing this new arcade game where you are fighting in a space ship. But really this is all a trap set up by the government and AHHHHHH PLOT THINGS HAPPEN AND SPOILERS SO I WONT SPOIL IT FOR YOU BUT IT IS SO GOOD and a little creepy and SOOO GOOOD. (did I mention that?)
Okay people SO GO FORTH AND READ MORE THINGS! Tell me in the comment section if you have read or would like to read these books.
HELLO DINOS! LONG TIME NO WRITE. Although i mean i was kind of writing (editing my book and i am STILL EDITING MY BOOK [hahahahah #Procrastination]) but still I WAS DOING SOMETHING. I wasn't just watching Markiplier (at least you know, not all the time). But anyways my cousin is always asking me HOW DO YOU READ BOOKS I HAVE NO TIME! To which I am like...
Okay so I am going to SHARE MY SECRETS on how I read ALL THE THINGS.
1) Be a child.
I know what you're thinking. BUT HEY it really does help when you're a kid and your parents haul you to all sorts of nasty places like family gatherings and church. YOU CAN JUST READ AND IGNORE HOW MUCH YOUR LIFE SUCKS #MyLifeGrowingUp. But yeah, chances are you aren't a little kid anymore so let's go to numero dos.
Um so I'm just like... okay I AM GOING TO DO THIS EVEN THOUGH #EMBARRASSMENT
JUST READ ON THE TOILET OKAY! (you'll thank me later when you get oh so much reading done)
ALSO I DID NOT JUST TELL YOU WHAT I TOLD YOU I AM VERY SOPHISTICATED OKAY??
I'm out of here.
3) Replace TV time with reading! Bc you know reading is better for you anyways.
WHY WATCH THAT SAME MOVIE 40k times a day!? Read something new and awesome and shiny and amazing and LGTBQIA+ or something! Plus you shouldn't be watching stuff on a screen b4 you go to bed. Studies show it's bad for your sleep cycle SO READ A BOOOK INSTEAD.
+Bonus: Books can't get scratchy discs so they NEVER FREEZE!!!! (also there are no commercials) #SwitchToBooks
4) EAT AND READ
Okay so you got to be a wee bit careful on this one BC YOU MUST NOT SULLY THE BOOK, FIEND! But if you are careful and can pull it off, it's the ultimate multitask. Food for your body and brain AT THE SAME TIME! PEOPLE WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR? BOOOOOOOOOOOKS!!!!!!!!!!
5) Need a suntan? READ A BOOK IN THE SUN AND BE SUPER AMAZING IN YOUR SUNKISSED SKIN, BOOM, BABY, BURN!
6) Bring a book wherever you go.
If you show up for work to early.... READ. If you have to wait in line for your haircut... READ. If you're stuck in the car while your crazy ass friend gets something from the store... READ. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS. NEVER BE CAUGHT BORED AGAIN EVER! BOOKS, PEOPLE, BOOKS!!!!!
I'm sorry if I'm getting a little loud here, but BOOOKSSSSSSS!
Okay so I'm pretty sure you know the things now. CONSIDER YOURSELF EDUCATED IN THE WAYS OF THE HANNAH AND HOW SHE READS SO MANY BOOKS. Go forth into the world and enjoy literature and be smarter than the average bear with your knowledge! BE A BOOKDRAGON, PREACH PEOPLE, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKS!
Right so I have no idea what I am writing now. I'mma gonna leave bc this is getting weird. READ PEOPLE READ LIKE YOUR FACE DEPENDS UPON BOOKS PEOPLE BOOKS!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
We had a MUSICAL AT OUR LIBRARY AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was based off the book Dumplin, which is a YA Contemporary novel about a fat girl running for the beauty pageant.
And then a bunch of other girls join our protagonist and run for the pageant too. Meanwhile our protagonist, Willowedean Dickson, finds herself torn between two dudes, Bo and Mitch, who are both very nice BUT SHOULD SHE EVEN BE IN A RELATIONSHIP SHE'S SO FAT?
So yeh, it's an awesome book about body positivity (at least towards the end of the book it is), daring to do what you want, and good ole fashion Dolly Parton, bc naturally. SO YOU SHOULD READ THE BOOK!
But anyways how did we make this awesome book into a musical? Welllllll, I was hard and extensive work. Through the long hours Anna (the library specialist and play manager lady person who had the initial idea to do this thing) and I toiled, burning the midnight oil and totally being asleep. XD
Hahaha, no. In reality it was more like me going to the library and sitting at the teen desk with Anna writing while listening to Taylor Swift on repeat. And also hiding from my parents bc they hate Dumplin' and think it's a HORRIBLE BOOK. I'm so glad I don't live with them anymore, lol, because the book is amazing. (To be honest they hate on fat people and don't like body positivity bc they think fat people should be shamed. Screw you, parents.) BUT ANYWAYS I WROTE LIKE A THIRD OF THE SCRIPT. WOOO HOOOO YAY HANNAH. Anna did the rest. She is a productive good bean. *thumbs up*
Some of the script was literally just taken straight from the book. A lot of the dialogue was exactly the same, except without the "he said, she saids." We meshed scenes together for time. Tailored some of the dialogue if needed and inserted songs when we could. Like when Willowdean and Bo had an argument we put in the song Jar of Hearts. And when the pageant girls had to get their game on, we inserted the song Better When I'm Dancing. And then we had Willowdean sing Jolene because her character does in the book. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
I'm the person eating the carnation btw the way. AND YES WE GOT FLOWERS FOR BEING SO AWESOME. #YAYUS
We spent a good couple months (from like March? to August) practicing and it paid off! We did do it in reader's theater style. Which means we all sat on chairs and when it was our turn stood up and read our lines from our binders, but we do a little staging like sitting at a table or walking away from a person and all that stuff. So it was pretty easy to do, BUT SO FUN. WE EVEN MADE CAST T-SHIRTS YAYAYAYAYAYAY.
To be quite honest I can't wait to do this again. I'm considering getting my college major in theater. I've proposed doing a Civil War play Hamilton style and my friends are all for it. SO WE MAY DO IT! #EXCITED #LIKEWAYYYYYYYYYYEXCITED I want to fight dancing, and rapping, and jazz, and ALL THE THINGS IT'S GOING TO BE SOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOL. I will let you know if we do decide to do it, of course. :D
Until next time, peace out, do a library musical just bc, and LOVE LIBRARIES. and probably check out myonline store bc yeah.
Is the crazy Wranting Writer and Lordess Lady of the blog b/c she says so.
