Oh dear, libraries will go extinct now. It is the digital age after all; there's no more need for them.
cough. gasp. wheeze. 😝
Where do people get these ideas? Libraries aren't going extinct. Not ever. NEVER. The people who believe this weird extinction myth also belive that libraries are just book houses. No, they are not. Libraries are SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. They did used to be just that, but no longer. Libraries have evolved since they first were created, and they will continue to evolve, but they will not die.
Libraries will flourish in the coming years becuase:
1) They are communtiy centers. Teens go to them to hang with friends, kids go to events, adults listen to book talks.
2) They are centers of learning. Really if you had to use one phrase to describe a library, it should be this one becuase virtually EVERYTHING in a library has learning involved somehow. Whether it be a Let's Play club that teaches you how to edit videos, to Introduction to Mircosoft Word classes, to working in the library garden, or just reading, everything revolves around learning things.
3) Free resources. Libraries are awesome for the poor and homeless (and are just generally awesome overall). If you can't buy the book, borrow it. Don't have a printer, the library has one. Yes, libraries are awesome. And a lot of people don't have wifi, but the library has it, and this is invaluable to poor people who have to submit online job applications. They wouldn't be able to without the library.
4) House of books. (Actually, come to think of it, that is a cool title.) Yes, libraries house books. But as you see, libraries are way more than just that. And while I believe that libraries will never go completely ebook and chuck out all the physical, no one should worry about the library apocalypse becuase it's not happening.
Becuase libraries are like Tigress, way too awesome to die.
Is the crazy Wranting Writer and Lordess Lady of the blog b/c she says so.
