WHAT IS THIS? A movie? Video game things? What does this have to do with LIBRARIES? Haha! Well, libraries ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN BOOKS! (sorry books--I still love you #promise) But it's true. They are.
So my library has an awesome Let's Play Club. It means we can do super cool things like play video games (I guess--although I'm not a member just to play things), learn editing (which is a BEAR, LEMME TELL YOU, but I can do it), find out how to manage this crazy thing which is YouTube, and yeah, also do crazy improv games because some people need to be spontaneous and talk a lot more during videos.
Oh yeah, and we learn how to use Photoshop too, although my librarian (hello SARAH!) did that super epic thumbnail up there just because (I don't actually remember why, I think it was time, but anyways)... ??? It was just because. It does look very nice. I can't wait to make my own thumbnails next time.
But anyways, this goes to show that libraries CAN do things besides books and get away with it. People are always walking up to me and being like "BUT WILL LIBRARIES GO BOOKLESS? And what's the use for them since the internet IS HERE?!" I always do the right thing: Give them the old Captain Janeway death glare and then slap their faces off.... ? Just kidding, I have to tell them that libraries are evolving to be more than just book storehouses with super-nice-cardigan-wearing-superhero-managers (I hereby declare that as a synonym for librarian). No, libraries are more than that. They are SUPER AWESOME PORTALS TO LEARNING! Whether that be learning how to code, or run a YouTube channel, or use Microsoft Word, or (insert anything here), yep, libraries are there to show people how to do it. And still provide books. Because crazy library doubter, libraries will ALWAYS HAVE BOOKS. And super-nice-cardigan-wearing-superhero-managers. ?
Not because I say so, but because it's true. Do some research if you want to. The libraries are here to stay. In the survival of the fittest, libraries are benching twice the amount of weight anyone else can manage. Just because. They're awesome.
And also you should go watch that movie and subscribe to my library's YouTube channel. (I am the gamer called Starflight [FYI]) SHAMELESS PLUGS INSERTED HERE!
Haha, my librarian wanted all us Let's Players to get people to subscribe (see, I have an excuse to plug myself) to our channel by using social media (hence making us learn marketing). And I just did that. Kind of. I think I kind of blew that order out of the water.
Is the crazy Wranting Writer and Lordess Lady of the blog b/c she says so.
