Hello, Library People! I am back with FIVE AWESOME Library Events that I have experienced in my lifetime. Because library events = AWESOME.
Btw, do you see that pic? Apparently I have found my design niche: Utterly Nonsensical. Yay! I'm so happy for myself I think maybe I'll make another design with like fedora wearing pterodactyls drinking beer... and then somehow relate that to libraries.
But anyways, here they are, ze Top Five (more or less) and in no real order bc #laziness and general IDKness. Be sure to judge, juice, and steal all if need be.
At ze top, el numero uno...
The Teen After Hours Event for Summer Reading 2016
Okay, this probably WAS my favorite just bc it was after hours. The library closed at 5, and the event was from 6-11 so SO MUCH TIME AT THE LIBRARY. Plus no normal patrons and permission to play music loudly and just generally be loud? YES, AWESOME! (i do so plan to run down the aisles while running my fingers over book spines while screaming LIBRARY, YEAH! real loudly this year. Just because.)
Also we played fun games like... okay well there was like Live Pacman and Hungry, Hungry Humans, but just between you and me, bleeeeh. But that's because I'm weird and super introverted, most ppl liked them. We also had Quidditch (which had better be spelled properly--this dumb website of course does not recognize the word) and Jenga (which I only played like 20 times) and dodgeball. LOTS OF FUN. Yes, yes. If you won games you got library money which we used for the super cool Storage Box wars (kind of like Storage Wars the TV show I guess [i have never watched]). So my librarian turned into an auctioneer. #LibrariansDoAllTheThings
NUMBER 2... Patio Pals
Awwww. It's cute. Patio Pals is gardening event for the little kids held every Thursday in the summer (rain or shine [if rain inside the building bc a wet me is an annoyed me]). Why the hell do I enjoy this? Idk, but I like doing outsidey things and teaching little kids how to do it. Also FLOWERS and EDIBLE THINGS and SUN TAN from standing around a library patio looking uber knowledgeable.
But for reals, it's cool. We do soil experiments and teach kids how to grow things and lots of other cool stuff like respecting animals or building insect and bird houses and painting pretty stones to put in the garden.
And yes also my sun tan. Just bc.
Number three could only be... THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!
Hahahaha! Yes, I LOVE doing this. So pretty much we are allowed to use most of the library and can run around and be loud while completing tasks at the stations, which are things like identifying animal tracks, picking the picture with the nonpoisonous plant (bc you don't want to die, do you?), decoding the secret message (which was DFTBA [our librarian is soooo not a nerd fighter]), firing arrows at the Twilight poster ppl bc Katniss > vampires, and making awesome costumes for the Tribute Parade. So pretty much IT'S THE AWESOMEST THING EVER!!!!! Apparently we are doing this for Teen Summer Reading Program After Hours Event 2017. I may be looking forward to this.
Teen Read Week 2016
Yay, this was super fun. We played Shakespearean insults and gave out books and had ice cream and did Pictionary. We were also supposed to do pun games, but sadly we did not. But we all walked away with liked five books so it was all good.
GIIIIIIIIIIRLS NIGHT OUT!
We thought we could, so we did. I really enjoyed this one bc GIRLS ONLY and like no one showed up (sad for the librarians, happy for introverted me) and bc TED TALKS and AWESOME "she thought she could so she did" T-shirts. Plus we made like sugar face scrub thingys (i mean, some ppl did, I did not) and you painted your nails (unless you were me, but I found the cool tips and tricks on how to paint nails fascinating). We had awesome music by woman singers playing in the background. My librarian was singing (always nice). And oh yes, we made boxes of heart and stars (kind of. you could use dragonfly cutouts or flowers or leaves or music notes too, but mostly hearts and stars). The point with this is that you cut up pretty punch outs and put them in a small see-through container and when you feel sucky and unloved, you shake your box and remember that you matter and people care about you.
And at the end, we had a super cool thing where we got to anonymously ask the librarians any question. (Like the questions you would ask your mom, but wouldn't because she's your mom.) It is awesome that librarians will do things like that for you. #LibrariansAreLifeSavers
So it was a super awesome event that more girls should have come to. Especially since we did group hugs afterwards. And because my librarian introduced me to Fireworks by Katy Perry. WHERE HAVE I BEEN LIVING MY WHOLE LIFE THAT I DID NOT HEAR IT BEFORE??????
Well, that's five and it has come to my attention that my brain is holding out on me. I MUST know at least five more. Hmmm. *plans with devious writer face just bc* I shall write them into another blog post. In the meantime be sure to leave comments about your favorite library events. Have you ever had any of the ones I listed here?
Is the crazy Wranting Writer and Lordess Lady of the blog b/c she says so.
